Self Help Groups
Women Self Help Groups are the primary units for our intervention. Though the Government and other non government organizations form SHGs, ours stand as unique. More than being an economic entity, they, especially the village federations (Mahamandals) stand as a uniting factor and a platform for expressing solidarity as well as for asking for justice and their rights. Since our inception we have formed more than 1000 Self Help groups.
The activities that the SHGs do is regular saving, inter-loaning, meetings and taking up issues for village development activities. Apart from these the SHGs are federated to village level federation which plays the role of solving the problems related to women and any village level problems.
Kutch Jyoti Trust is the co-coordinating and supervising body of the different economic and social welfare programmes implemented by the Diocese of Rajkot in Kutch District. Through the well-established 10 Social Work Centres in the region covering seven blocks/talukas (Anjar, Bhachau, Gandhidham, Bhuj, Mandvi, Nakhatrana and Naliya), Kutch Jyoti Trust reaches out to the people. Each centre covers an average population of twenty five thousand. The trust mediates between the various funding agencies and the Social Work Centres. It assists the Centres in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of diverse development programmes. All the Social Work Centres are dynamically involved in organizing the village communities for their own development through animation and empowerment.
