Where there is a will ,there is a win
Kulsumben Anwar, member of Ashapeer SHG from Mandavi Kutch. She is from economically pitiable family. She has four members in family including her one son and one daughter. They depend on camel cart which is only their means of livelihood. To go daily with camel cart for firewood cutting and making charcoal from it, is the only their source of income. But she could not meet both ends with inadequate income of charcoal. In 2004 Kulsumben joined SHG namely Ashapeer Mandal formed by Kutch Jyoti Trust. Kulsumben always keeps herself ahead in all the empowerment activities of trust. Because of good quality of leadership selected for Motivator post by trust. During her tenure as a motivator she made availed many government schemes to the SHG members. There was a vacancy of Asha worker in her village. She is 11th Pass which was compatible qualification for that job so she applied for the same and she succeeded. As a motivator she could help only SHG member but after became an Asha worker, she could lend a hand to whole village. From her journey Ashapeer Mandal to Asha worker staff of Kutch Jyoti Trust encouraged and guided her in all the possible ways. But this was not her final destination. In 2006 there was election in most of the villages of district, Kulsumben nominate her name for the candidature of Sarpanch. And finally with the help and support of all the villagers she became a Sarpanch. Thus she proved that where there is will, there is win.
